We know that finding calm and serenity is not always a piece of cake in today’s fast-paced world, so Britany and Erik have teamed up to bring you a little slice of sunshine, a lot of community, tons of yoga and climbing, and the kind of fun you just can't resist!

 

Oh yes, join us for a 4-day, 3-night climbing and yoga retreat! Nestled in Owens River Gorge near Bishop, one of the most sought-after climbing destinations in the West, this retreat is all about doing what you love, finding adventure, cultivating community, and strengthening your mind and body. Regardless of your experience, enjoy one-on-one rock climbing sessions and daily yoga practices. And when you’re not at the crag or the mat, savor delectable meals prepared by a chef, and wake up to fresh coffee sourced from a family friend and roaster. The evenings will be filled with fireside chats and feeling the vibrant community, and the nights will be spent in cozy accommodations after enjoying the starry skies!

About Our Destination

Bishop, California is a friendly town nestled in between two majestic mountain ranges, the iconic Sierra Nevada mountains to the West, and the White Mountains to the East. This unique geographic location makes Bishop incredibly special as it sits in a valley surrounded by gorgeous landscapes, giant mountains, and beautiful lakes. Bishop's setting has an irresistible draw to outdoor enthusiasts, artists, and businesses alike. Bishop is world famous for its scenery, climbing, hiking, fishing, hunting, bakeries, and for its mules - many of which can be seen while in nature. The city was named after Bishop Creek, flowing out of the Sierra Nevada.

 

The Owens River Gorge is a massive collection of some of the finest sport climbing that California has to offer. With over 300 routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.13, this crag has something for everyone. The rock in the Owens River Gorge is a type of volcanic tuff local to the region, which makes for a hard, compressed rock that has settled in a variety of formations. You’ll find everything from pockets to flakes, and even a few chimneys thrown in for good measure. This area is well-bolted, and offers a climbs for a wide range of abilities. The close proximity to town, as well as the potential for year-round climbing, might convince you to give up the climber dirtbag lifestyle and set up permanent residence in Bishop.

Accommodations
EASTSIDE GUESTHOUSE & BIVY

The Eastside Guesthouse & Bivy's goal is to further establish Bishop as the ultimate outdoor destination in California by providing a base camp and place of community for adventure travelers. Here you'll find the perfect fusion of a boutique hotel setting with a hostel feel, and a community atmosphere. There's a full kitchen, outdoor area, and community space designed to encourage our guests to share their adventures and meet new people.

Climbing skills taught on this trip

  • All levels are welcome! 

  • Lead and top rope climbing and belaying.

  • Anchor systems and rope management.

  • Safety management and rappelling technique.

  • You can opt to stay a few extra days to work with Erik one-on-one to learn more in-depth climbing skills - experience  dependent. 

Yoga Practice & Group Work

  • Enjoy a daily morning yoga practice. It will be a juicy, slow warming practice to open the body, mind and heart.

  • Daily Sound Baths with extended stretching and restorative practices to renew the body and retrain the nervous system.

  • Daily introspective writing through journal prompts.

  • Group and partner work to cultivate a greater capacity for courageous living and personal connection.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to hike two miles over varied terrain while carrying a 15 lb backpack

  • Ability to do 20 squats and 1/2 a pull up

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Camping and sleep gear (required)

  • Yoga mat (required)

  • Trip protection, medical expenses, accident coverage

  • Gratuities to guides and yoga teacher (We recommend $250-$500 experience dependent)

Packing requirements & Details to note

  • Required equipment: (NOTE: all can be provided if needed)

    • Climbing gear: climbing shoes, harness, and helmet; atc guide and grigri, a PAS/personal anchor system 

    • a yoga mat 

    • a journal, a pencil, or pen

    • a headlamp with extra batteries 

  • You'll fly into Bishop, CA. This is the closest Airport.

  • The climbing area is in Owens River Gorge.

  • This is the Mountain Project link to the climbing area is here. You may want to download the Mountain Project App as well as that specific location in the app area before arriving.
